Safe shelter

Safe shelter or “Invacuation” to an internal place of shelter in a building is sometimes planned as possible emergency response to terrorist attacks or other external threats. However, even where Internal Shelter Areas have been identified it is rare that the procedure has been drilled or shown to work. Unfortunately the risks of failure in an invacuation are higher than those in an evacuation which is drilled regularly and where people have a good understanding of what is expected.

Analysis can help identify whether the plan is workable and if necessary, recommend enhancements needed to make the plan work. Subsequently we can help to assess the risks in preparing an invacuation drill.

We provide expert consultancy, including movement simulations, to analyse and refine the new invacuation strategies, and then provide recommendations and tools to make them easier to implement.
